My name is Siena Castellon. I am a multi-award-winning neurodiversity advocate, author, Young Leader for the SDGs, and the founder of Neurodiversity Celebration Week.
I am also a teenager who is autistic and has ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia. As a student with several learning differences, I know that there is still a stigma associated with having special educational needs (SEN) and that there are still many misconceptions about what it means to have a learning or thinking differences.
I want to change this.
My experience has been that much too often, schools focus on the challenges of being a neurodivergent student at the expense of recognising, acknowledging and nurturing our many strengths and talents. I launched Neurodiversity Celebration Week to encourage schools, colleges, and universities to change the way autistic students and students with learning and thinking differences are perceived and treated.
Please join me in flipping the narrative so that neurodivergent students are empowered to perceive themselves more positively. Together, we can change challenge misconceptions and stereotypes about individuals who think differently and perceive the world differently. With your support, we can create a better future in which neurodivergent students have equal access to education and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
In March 2021, over 1,400 schools and 865,000 students worldwide took part in Neurodiversity Celebration Week. Please join us in making 2022 an even bigger celebration of neurodiversity.
